Ok, now THAT was the best thing I’ve ever seen on the internet!!! Thanks for sharing!!
For about 2 months now I’ve haphazardly searched for the KAWS special edition Hennessy bottles. Last night, however, I decided I would actually enter a store to try and purchase one. Its no secret that I drink about as much as Death Valley, so entering a liquor store is somewhat foreign to me. The very personable clerk asked me if I needed help, and I of course defaulted to “no, I’m just looking”. After wandering aimlessly around the store for 3 minutes or so I decided it would be best to enlist the help of someone that had a clue. I explain what I’m looking for, fully expecting her NOT to know what I was talking about. I was wrong. She immediately began telling me about how many people came in looking for those in December, and how she had taken down the display and might have a few left in the back of the store, but she needed to check. I waited. She returned empty handed and told me she would call the other stores in the area to see if they had any bottles. After 3 or 4 calls, none were found. But she told me to check “mom and pop” type liquor stores that get less traffic because they probably have them. I thank her for her trouble, and leave.
15 minutes later.
As I’m driving, I see a small “mom and pop” liquor store, and whip in since there was only 5 minutes until close. The store owner, a medium build Pakistani man, was pulling the gates closed as I walked up. He asked if he could help me as he reentered the store, and I explained what I was looking for. He thought for a second, and replied, “Ohhhhhhh, Obama?”
Now two questions arose. 1. What about “KAWS” or “Hennessy” made him respond “Ohhhhhh, Obama?” and 2. Is there an Obama based liquor that my novice alcohol knowledge isn’t aware of? And in the case that I was talking about Obama, what would he have brought out the back? Schlitz Malt Liquor or Colt 45?!?
But that is neither here nor there, the moral of the story is, I want that special edition KAWS Hennessy bottle. Anyone know where I can grab one this weekend in the Dallas area?
What are some inspirational books that have helped you along the way Literature or visual Also what are some instructional or tutorial books that have helped you along the way with your painting
Whenever someone asks me about what books they should read I start them off with two books I read within the last couple of years. Both of which were truly life changing. Outliers By Malcolm Gladwell. This is the book the “10,000 hours” concept came from. The other book is The Alchemist by Paulo Coehlo. Both of these books worked to inspire me deeply.
As far as other art/photography books, I literally find an artist I like, and head over to Amazon to find a book containing their work, or a little of their back story. I haven’t bought any new books in a while since I don’t have any space left on my bookshelves at home, but I think I might head on over to Amazon today and buy some new books for old time’s sake.
Finally, make sure you follow blogs, and bookmark websites that inspire you as well. There are LOTS of places that inspiration can live. You just have to be diligent to unearth them all.
